Ministry of Awesome's Activator Sessions are made up of 20-minute mentoring sessions where entrepreneurs of all sizes and stages talk through their tech startup, venture or idea and get focused feedback from our Startup Activation Coordinator and a veteran panel of business experts. This is your opportunity to use their expertise and networks to ensure your best possible chance of success.

Select a 20-minute appointment that works for you and tell us about your idea or your business.
Feel free to bring along any materials that will assist you (notes, drawings, websites, photos, presentations, etc.) or just bring you.
These sessions are always sold out so please show up on time, get ready to focus, and gear up for a great session.
The panel consists of:
Jacob Varghese: Jacob is our Startup Activation Coordinator. He was an investment banker before joining MoA and is passionate about entrepreneurship. He loves to work with young entrepreneurs and new businesses, particularly in digital technology, fintech, and transport sectors. He is an Economics graduate with a Post Graduate Diploma in Business.
Geoff Brash: Geoff is the founder of GBJ Innovation. GBJ is working with various organisations, entrepreneurs, and startup companies to help startups succeed in New Zealand. Prior to GBJ, Geoff was a co-founder of SLI Systems and held positions of CFO, VP of Marketing, and VP of Business Intelligence. Geoff is the Chair of Canterbury Software, a mentor and organiser for Startup Weekend, directed Lightning Lab Christchurch and holds an MBA from Massey University.
Rob Lawrence: Rob is a Growth Advisor with CECC and a Regional Business Partner of Callaghan Innovation. He joined the Employer’s Chamber in 2005, now as a part of the Business Advisory Team, he specializes in assisting companies with government investment funding for R & D. He has assisted Canterbury businesses to engage funding support for product development and global access to technology.
Lloyd Mander: Lloyd Mander is a successful entrepreneur with extensive experience in leadership and governance. He brings startup experience at all levels, from starting a company to taking it through a high-growth period to negotiating its successful sale. He also has governance experience in the not-for-profit sector, currently serving as an Independent Trustee of Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust, and volunteers with Business Mentors NZ and the Young Enterprise Scheme.

All sessions take place at Awesome HQ, 102 St Asaph Street, right in the heart of Christchurch's Innovation Precinct.
